USCIS to Conduct Second Round of Cap H-1B Selections

USCIS to Conduct Second Round of Cap H-1B Selections

After its initial March round of random selections of electronic cap candidate registrations USCIS determined that a second round of selections is required to meet the numerical allocation of available H-1B visa slots for fiscal year 2025. USCIS will conduct the second round draw before the end of August 2024.

The second round of selections will only occur for bachelor’s degree (regular) cap petitions as enough master’s cap registrations were already selected to fulfill the quota. The second round of selection for the regular cap will include previously submitted registrations that indicated eligibility for the master’s cap along with those that indicated only eligibility for the regular cap.

Meltzer Hellrung will monitor the USCIS portal to see if candidates were selected. This information will be visible to employers directly as well. H-1B petitions filed on behalf of these candidates must be filed within the 90-day window to the correct dropbox address noted on the USCIS-provided registration selection notice.

Please reach out to your designated Meltzer Hellrung attorney with any questions.
