Sheila has advised business leaders on immigration compliance best practices, mobility strategy, and crafting corporate immigration policies for more than 15 years.  Her practice focuses on employment-based green cards and work visas, as well as providing strategic guidance and regulatory counseling regarding immigration to businesses of all sizes.

Sheila works with multinational companies in a variety of industries, including: software, engineering, accounting, and health care.  She utilizes her deep knowledge of immigration law to provide solutions to talent acquisition and retention problems faced by fast-growth, successful companies.  Some of Sheila’s successes include:

• Advised a venture-backed, high-growth SaaS company on the implementation of a global immigration policy that ensured immigration compliance and consistency, while prioritizing the business’ goal of minimizing costs and internal administrative burdens in the sponsorship review process.
• Successfully advocated for consular case relocation on behalf of a technology client with Russian contract talent stuck abroad after the US consulate closures in Russia and COVID pandemic consulate slowdowns.
• Creating a strategic PERM program for a mid-size accounting firm that allowed batching of recruitment, for faster and more efficient processing of green card sponsorships.

As a first generation Asian American, Sheila practices with empathy towards the struggles faced by immigrants and the importance the visa process has on their personal goals and aspirations.  She strives to provide clients with value by offering all possible solutions, while clearly communicating risk.

At Meltzer Hellrung, Sheila leads the Summer Associate program.  She is responsible for recruiting law students around the country to join the Firm for its summer internship program.  Sheila earned her bachelor’s degree from Wayne State University and her law degree from Michigan State University College of Law.
